Logistics and registration for the Summer Institute 2011
This year’s Summer Institute will start at 1:30 on Monday August 22nd and wrap up at 12:30 on Friday Aug 26th; we think this year's institute will provide the opportunity for project team planning work, cross-team fertilization, team presentations and conversations about what is working, not to mention much-needed time for relaxation and recreation. A few highlights to note:
We’re delighted that Ruth Parker from the Mathematics Education Collaborative will be leading us through a day-long workshop grounded in her extensive work in mathematics instructional practice;
The evenings are free (yes, you heard me, free) of formal sessions/events—we’ll be helping to orchestrate various informal options for folks (I understand Helen Burn is putting together a musical group and I’m trying to twist Mike Nevins’ arm into organizing a games night; there may even be a chance for informal discussions on serious topics! J) but all evening activities are strictly optional and won’t be on the final exam;
We’re asking college teams to be prepared to share both a summary update of their work to date as well as possibly facilitate or lead small-group sessions on targeted topics specific to key aspects of their project.
We’re looking forward to a productive, creative, and relaxing Institute!
